Lakeside Community Hub
Lakeside Community Hub is a community project on-site at Lakeside Primary Academy. The Hub can be used outside of school hours and will serve the local community as a base to host meetings and community events.
You Said, We Did...
Following the survey results from earlier this year we have made links with several services across the area, to bring to you the opportunities and activities you said you would like to see running from the Hub.
Doncaster Stronger Communities Team
Chris Wroot (Stronger Communities Officer) will be based at the Hub on a regular basis and will be providing a variety of support. The aim of the team is to build strong, active, inclusive and resilient communities across the whole of Doncaster, effectively building on and using their strengths and assets to work in partnership to improve their quality of life and well-being, to make their neighbourhoods safe and supportive and able to tackle the issues that matter to you.
Children’s University is a charity that works in partnership with schools to develop a love of learning in children. We do this by encouraging and celebrating participation in extra-curricular activities in and outside of school. The impact of these activities is proven to be positive which is why we’re committed to creating a level playing field of opportunity and opening up access to children of all backgrounds.
Doncaster Forest School
We are lucky enough to have our very own Forest School Leader on-site, and a well-developed forest school area. We are working in partnership with Doncaster College and University Centre to offer unique learning experiences and out of school clubs for your children to access during the holidays and after school.
Designed to promote the holistic development of children using a child-centred approach, the Forest School experience provides children with opportunities to achieve and develop confidence through hands-on learning within the outdoor environment.
Solihull Parenting Program
The Solihull parenting program is a 10 week course, 2 hours per week and focuses on building a positive relationship between parents and children. The course is open to all parents regardless of their situation who want to look at building or maintaining good relationships wihin the family.
As part of our commitment to become more Eco Friendly we have been holding a weekly Social Supermarket, which has proved very popular. The supermarket will run again in September on a Wednesday after school at 3.00pm from the Hub building. You are invited to fill a carry bag with the produce on offer for a £2 donation. The produce available will vary each week, with everything from fruit, vegetables, bread, bakery products, confectionery and flowers.
All of the food on offer is food which has been identified as surplus by local supermarkets, and helps to reduce food waste.
Social Events & Clubs
We will be hosting weekly family yoga, weight watcher groups and much much more as soon as the Hub is open and current restrictions allow.
If there is a specific activity you would like to see on offer or if you are a business and would like to provide an opportunity using the Hub then please do get in touch with Sally Smith - Inclusion Manager (firstname.lastname@example.org)
