Round up of the first few weeks in Cormorant's Class

Date: 5th Oct 2022 @ 6:15pm

We have had a busy yet fun start to the new school year in Cormorant's Class.

The children have been working hard on place value in maths. One online game we have shared together is on www.topmarks.co.uk - the game is on Daily 10 (select level 2 - partitioning). We have also enjoyed using splat square https://www.topmarks.co.uk/learning-to-count/paint-the-squares where children have been "splatting" the 2, 3, 5 and 10 times tables and noticing patterns. Why not try this at home?

Here are some pictures of our maths work in action - equipment is always available during every lesson - we are getting better at using it independently when we need it to support our learning!

In English we have been planning our dinosaur story based on Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs. Watch this space as we will publish some of our stories once finished. We have some lovely descrptions so far, I look forward to sharing them with you.

Our dinosaur topic is proving very roar-some! Ask your child to describe a carnivore and a herbivore or what they know about the famous fossil hunter Mary Anning. We are currentky investigating "Why do we have 2 eyes?" in our science lessons, which has meant conducting many experiments! We will let you know soon what we conclude!

Here we are covering one eye and pointing to an object, then covering the other eye and seeing if we are still pointing at the same thing! Ask us what we found out!

I will continue to put homework on to Purple Mash, all children have their login but please ask if you have any problems.

Keep up the fantastic work Cormorants!
