Leeds Armoury

Date: 27th May 2020 @ 8:33am

As part of our topic work connected to Peasants, Princes and Pestilence, we paid a visit to Leeds Armoury. This was to enable us to find out what it would have been like to be a knight in the Middle Ages. We wanted to discover what weapons and armour were used and how they would have battled. The children had a go at firing an arrow and tried  a knight's helmet: you couldn't see a great deal!

While we were there, we also looked at armour that would have been worn in Asia at a similar time - there were a lot of differences!

We were able to see a war elephant that would have been used in battles in Asia - it was very impressive!

During our visit, we also watched a demonstration of a sword fight - the two people were practicing moves that were recorded in a Middle Age manuscript that taught people how to fight and defend themselves.

It was a great day out with lots of learning and a visit to the gift shop at the end of the day, which is always fun! Well done class 9 for behaving so well!
