Foundation Two:
RWI
This week we will be learning phonics in 4 different groups, depending on ability based on last weeks assessments. I will be talking to parents about their childs phonics progress in the telephone conversations next week.
Maths
This week in maths we will be digging deeper into the numbers 1, 2 and 3. We will start the week by looking at 1 more than the numbers 1, 2 and 3 and how we can represent this. we will be singing songs such as 1, 2,3 4 5. which support the concept of 1 more. We will be comparing sets asking which has more and which has fewer. We will be asking the children to find more, less and the same as a quantity. Finally we will be asking the children how far they can travel if they take 3 giant steps, 3 tip toes, three jumps etc and making comparisions.
Topic
Our new topic this half term is 'What Happens When I Fall Asleep?'
This week we are thinking about the moon and the stars and will be reading the book
'Papa, please get the moon for me' by Eric Carle. You can listen to the story on YouTube by clicking on the link:
Papa, please get the moon for me
The children will be thinking carefully about the story and the moon!
This week we will also talk about:
Rememberance day and make poppies to help us remember the soldiers and those who serve in the armed forces.
Diwali The festival of light celebrated by Hindus. We will be listening to the story of Rama and Sita and making some crafts linked to the festival.
