Esafety at Lakeside Primary
Pupils take part in regular Esafety lessons to ensure they understand how to keep themselves safe on the internet and when using technology.
To keep our children safe when using the internet in school, we have a filter in place that screens and blocks potentially harmful content. It's called Studysafe and uses black lists from the Internet Watch Foundation and the Home Office amongst others to provide robust online safeguarding.
Using the Discord mobile app
We strongly encourage parents not to allow pupils to use the Discord mobile phone app. It allows pupils to make phone calls at random to other app users anywhere in the world. This puts pupils at risk of speaking to unsafe adults who they do not know.
If your child is using this app on their mobile phone we encourage you to discuss their use of it and, if at all possible, remove the app from their mobile phone.

Roblox allows users to send and receive messages and images, which can potentially be upsetting or put pupils at risk.
We would advise that pupils use this website as a guest user or, if pupils do have an account, that you have a copy of their usernames and password. We recommend that you regularly check on pupils activity on Roblox if you do feel comfortable with them having a user account.
We strongly advise that pupils do not use www.omegle.com. It is an open chat platform that allows users to chat with and send messages to anyone.
This website does not monitor chats and users can easily mask their identity. We consider this website a serious risk if pupils do use it.
