Year six thoroughly enjoyed a visit to the Aircraft Museum. After studying 'The Explorer' by Katherine Rundell, the children developed an interest in aeroplanes and the related technical terminology found within the story. We were able to experience first hand, what it was like inside the cockpit of numerous types of aircraft. We were amazed by the amount of controls we saw!
We were also lucky enough to be shown in to the WW1 and WW2 exhibition, where children were able to dress up in uniforms from the forces, and also learn a little about life during the wars.
A fantastic day out!
This week we have been enjoying reading Quest by Aaron Becker. The book is excellent and has allowed us to open our imaginations!
We particularly like that we can all write our own versions of the same story!

Our children found it really interesting, and some were inspired by the technicality and originality in the pieces of contemporary dance.
'I thought it was really technical and you could tell they had spent a lot of time on it' Ruby
'It was really good - I liked how much effort was put in to it and how there was a good variety of dance'
Emily
'It was really good because it was all so different - there were loads of different movements'
Harry
Children were lucky enough to have a visit from illustrator David Smith, who taught them tricks and tips on how to draw Maya Gods.
Children in year 6 have been enjoying exploring the properties of 3D shapes. We used the equipment to make a number of shapes, which helped us to identify the properties. We looked at a number of properties: edges, vertices, angles, parallel lines, perpendicular lines and also how shapes were made from nets.

Water Resistance Investigation
Class 11 have conducted an investigation to find out about the effects of water resistance. They recognised the importance of a fair test and changed only one variable. Children weighed out five grams of blue tac and then investigated how fast it would travel through water. The variable they changed was the shape of the bluetac, with the aim being to find the shape which travelled through water the slowest.
