We discussed how we can eat healthily and how it is important to have a healthy diet and that means we can still have some treats sometimes. We talked about different types of food and why we need them. As well as needing a good diet we learnt that it is also important to exercise too. We tried different movements in the playground and we noticed the effect on our hearts. We could feel our heartbeat through our jumpers and we knew that as our heart rate got faster we were working hard.
To launch our new story we enjoyed tasting some fruit. We talked about what the fruit looked like, how the skin felt and we described the taste. Some fruit we had tasted before such as pineapple and Kiwi but we enjoyed trying new fruits such as persimmon and papaya.
Welcome back and Happy New Year 2019
This half term our story will be Handa's Surprise
Christmas Lunch 2018
What a yummy feast we enjoyed as we ate Christmas Dinner together. Our wonderful cooks served a fabulous meal and we all got into the Christmas spirit, even wearing Christmas jumpers too. Have a look at our pictures.
We enjoyed a Christmas party with all our friends. We wore party clothes and had party food in the hall with all the other children. After that we played games in the hall and showcased our fabulous dance moves. Next, it was time for a special visitor and Father Christmas arrived! Luckily we were all on the good list and we each received a gift. Thank you Father Christmas. Have a look at the pictures of our special day......
Buddy the Elf
We enjoyed having Buddy resident in our classroom for December. The children had fun finding out what he had been up to over night and had a mission to find him each morning. There was lots of excitement and theories discussed and Buddy enjoyed seeing how hard the children have been working. Fingers crossed he will return next year. Have a look at some of the fun he had.....
As always what a super turn out for our Christmas Craft morning. We enjoyed a morning of festive crafts. We aren't sure if it was the parents or children who had the most fun! There will be some sparkly houses this Christmas once all these homemade crafts are put up. Thank you to all who attended
Christmas Concert 2018
We performed our Christmas concert for our grown ups. We learnt the Christmas story using our talk for writing actions and we sang some songs. We went on the stage ( many of us for the first time ever! ) and gave a fabulous performance, and we even wore special costumes. Miss Verity and Miss smith were very proud of every one for doing such a great job. What a great show!
Buddy the Elf has arrived!
There has been lots of excitement this week because we have had a surprise arrival of Buddy the Elf. We returned to our classroom to discover a box, when we opened it, out popped Buddy!
We are keeping our eye on him as we think he may get up to some mischief! He delivered us some books which we are going to share together at story time.
Watch out for more Elf antics coming soon.........

There was lots of excitement this week as the children discovered ice on the sandpit lid. Libby told us that the water had frozen. We felt how cold it was and we talked about how it had happened. I am sure we will be seeing lots more as the weather gets colder!
Fantastic Fish 23.11.18
Well done to Diyar who is this week's Fantastic Fish. Diyar always gives 100 % to all his learning and is so keen to learn. He has been impressing us with his phonics work this week and he knows all his phase 2 tricky words. Well done Diyar, keep up the hard work. Diyar gets to take Soccer Sam home and we look forward to hearing about their adventures.
We have been learning our Little Red Hen story and we have now become really confident and are even remembering it all by ourselves. This week we have been changing the characters and drawing our own story map. Here we are retelling the story, can you guess who is playing each character?
Enjoying the outdoors!
We have been enjoying lots of activities in our outdoor area.
This week we have been adding numbers together. We counted the animals in the fields then found out how many altogether. We have got some fantastic mathematicians in our class, that's for sure!
We learnt about the importance of all the people that had to go to war and we gave thanks for them. We took part in a whole school assembly where we laid our wreath of remembrance.
We enjoyed watching clips of fireworks explodig in the sky. This gave us some inspiration for our firework pictures which we made with chalk and black card. We thought about the noises the fireworks make and chose words to describe them. We added some fireworks to our display and enjoyed being creative.
